Heartbleed?

Heartbleed?

There is a wide range of concerning articles that have been released to warn us of the security risk posed by the ‘heartbleed’ situation. This is a pretty significant security issue but we want everybody to remember to remain calm since a fix has been released and is being implemented currently.
Heartbleed is a security breach in the encryption used to communicate to servers which run a lot of the websites we use, this means that our login and communications to our website services are currently at risk of lacking the proper protection. Any website using ‘OpenSSL’ as a security measure has been made vulnerable; as concerning as this sounds, there is already a fix being rolled out and the situation is being mitigated.
Our best advice is to change your password after the sites in question have implemented the fix and Heartbleed is gone.
If anybody feels exposed or at risk and wants to take further measures, the only steps that can be taken are reducing the usage of the accounts in question.
Contact us for further information, but don’t let anyone worry you more than you need to be.
