26 Jun iPhone 6 & iOS 8 Top Features
Apple has hit its largest volume of pre-orders in history within 24-hours with the new iPhone 6 & iPhone 6 Plus. It is no surprise when we look at what the new iPhone & iOS 8 has to offer; so lets look at the our favourite new features.
Bigger & Bigger:
The new iPhone comes in two varieties, which both have a larger displays than the previous iPhone 5s models, we have a 4.7 and a 5.5 inch screen to choose from, however the phone has gotten even thinner! & has a slightly better battery life! For those choosing to wield the large iPhone 6 Plus, you also get the wonderful new landscape view which allows for more content to load on your larger screen in a number of apps.
Speaking of the Large iPhone 6 Plus, you may wonder about how it feels having to reach so far with your thumb; well Apple doesn’t ignore the user experience! We are very excited about the ‘Reachability’ feature: where you double tap (not click) the home button and the content of the screen gets brought down to the lower portion of the screen, within your reach!
Oh and they have brought us a 128GB Model, for all of your higher quality photos and videos you will be taking, and to not compromise your music selection!
One of my favourite features may not be available for us in Australia right away, but the iPhone 6 & iPhone 6 Plus can keep your credit/debit cards on file and use its own internal chip as a pay wave device! Imagine just using your phone to swipe a payment through, and this is even safer than our current pay wave system due to the following reasons; The iPhone scans your fingerprint to allow it to make the payment, the vendor does not get your bank details, the money is actually sent by a unique transaction number from apple, your phone has the details deeply encrypted and doesn’t share them. To top it off, you can also do online shopping on your iPhone and soon the option to pay with your ‘Apple Wallet’ will be available and allow the same protection by not sharing your card info.
And what does iOS 8 bring to our iPhones?
We love the new ‘Quicktype Keyboard’, where the iPhone uses its power to learn your writing style and starts to bring word suggestions at the top of your keyboard, therefore enabling for you to form sentences in moments! It’s also clever enough to detect questions asked by the sender, and it suggests replies.
‘Hand-Off’ is one of the Continuity Features that will greatly benefit any of us running iOS 8 with the new Mac Yosemite system (also downloadable). Hand-off means that whatever you have started working on with one of your devices (writing an email, working on a document etc), can be picked up where you left off on another without any saving and sending. This will be supported on a handful of apps to start with, but as more apps adopt it, it will be a key feature to finally have unity between our technology.
We cant wait to get our hands on all of this within the next few days, and we are sure that you are excited too. If you require help with setting up your new device, please get in touch and we will happily visit you for a setup and intro session.
